JJ and The Pillars are a Toronto folk-rock band known for their Canadian Rock sound and upbeat, guitar driven, foot stomping live performances. Formed in 2013, the band has put out two successful indie records: “Wolves” (featuring their upbeat folk-rock hit “The Wolves”) and their sophomore record “Daisy” which has been making waves since their newest single “Howl” (feat. Alyssa Morrissey) hit the airwaves and playlists all over Canada.
In May 2014, JJ and the Pillars were announced as winners of 102.1 the Edge’s Next Big Thing competition, taking the top spot amongst the 600+ bands who participated. This was the catalyst that led to the band recording their debut album, The Wolves (released via Dine Alone Records.) Airplay on 102.1 the Edge, a Sugar Beach Session, and various live performances followed, playing with artists such as Arkells, USS, Dear Rouge, Tokyo Police Club, Finger Eleven, The Strumbellas and Billy Talent.
Two singles from the band’s first album, “The Wolves” and “Come With Me”, were featured on Sportsnet Highlights, and “The Wolves” was named one of the Edge’s Top 30 Songs of Summer 2014. To date, the band has more than 2 million streams on Spotify and 180,000 plays on YouTube.
In the Fall of 2018, JJ and the Pillars released their second album ‘Daisy’ with producer Kevin Dietz (The Cranberries, The Glorious Sons, Circa Survive), who had previously recorded a single with the band a few years prior. The resulting effort is the band’s best work to date, with strong songwriting, energetic performances, and powerful delivery making the album a standout in its genre. ‘Daisy’ is now available across all digital platforms.
