Every year, Main Street Markham is shut down to cars and is transformed into York Region’s largest outdoor music festival that attracts tens of thousands of visitors seeking family fun, unique foods, and incredible music. From musical acts across all genres, ages, and cultures, the Markham Village Music Festival is a celebration that kicks off summer here in Markham, York Region, and the Greater Toronto Area.

The Markham Village Music Festival Corporation is a registered Ontario non-profit corporation.

Barkham

Saturday is for the dogs! Barkham returns on June 15, a day dedicated to our beloved furry friends and their human companions.

Don’t furget to visit the Lure Course and show off your dog’s speed and agility!

Festival Location

The Markham Village Music Festival takes place on Main Street Markham (Highway 48), from Highway 7 to Parkway Ave./ Bullock Drive. That’s right! The almost 1 kilometre stretch of Main Street Markham is closed off to vehicular traffic and dedicated to pedestrians and guests for the two days of the festival.

You can enter the festival from any street, with the major entrance being Highway 7 and Markham Road, or Parkway Ave. / Bullock Dr. and Markham Road.

Festival FAQ

  • A: It’s FREE! Our sponsors foot the entire bill for street activities.

  • A: There are hundreds of parking spots on the streets and in the parking lots behind the shops. See the map to find where the parking lots are. Oh, by the way, parking is FREE as well.

  • A: Yes, most of our restaurants are fully licensed. And the pubs bring their patios right onto the street.

  • A: We have a dedicated Kids Zone which will include family and children activities, community/family vendors and youth performance stage during the day on Saturday.

  • A: The festival will run on Main Street on Friday from 6pm to 11 pm and on Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm.

  • A: Markham Main Street North (Hwy 48) and the side streets leading to it close at 12 pm on Friday and will remained closed overnight until 11 pm on Saturday. Main Street will be closed from Highway 7 north to Bullock/Parkway.

  • A: Yes. To find exact directions, visit the York Region Transit website, www.yrt.ca, or the Toronto Transit Commission’s website, www.ttc.ca, and you will find downloadable route maps.

  • A: Yes, there’s plenty of shade, and park benches located up and down the street. Also, the restaurants and pubs are all open, and some of them will have patios extended into the street.

  • A: The festival is held on the street, which is fully accessible. Some of the historical shops on the street are not accessible. There is handicap parking in the public parking lots just off Main Street.

  • A: The festival goes on, rain or shine.

  • A: We will be publishing a schedule as soon as we finalize all the entertainment and activities.

  • A: Yes, the Farmer’s Market is an important part of the Festival. However, this year the market will be located in a slighted different location and will be published as we get closer to the date of the festival in June.

  • A: Yes, there is a very nice public washroom on Robinson Street east of Main Street. There are Men’s, Women’s and Handicap washrooms.
