Available Volunteer Positions

The Vendor Management team is looking for a passionate member in the Markham community to join its team to help organize the over a hundred vendors that will be taking part in this year’s Markham VIllage Music Festival.
Availability
You will be asked to contribute 4-6 hours a week to manage online applications and related emails.
During the festival weekend, you will be actively “on the ground” at The Festival - directing vendor setup flow, liaising with vendors, and managing vendor communications as a part of The Festival team. You will be asked to take one or more shifts, but your availability on Friday and Saturday morning, and Saturday evening will be critical.
Functions - Pre-Festival Planning
Prepare updates to documentation issued to vendors and 3rd party participants
Review and act on applications
Assist in preparing the Street plan
Functions - Festival weekend
Work with Volunteers to label the booth locations
Assist in directing vendors to their locations (Friday and Saturday)
Handle all issues, questions related to vendors
You should be comfortable with computers (spreadsheets, Word Processing) and are willing to learn our online payment and form platforms. Social media skills would also come in handy!
This is an opportunity to learn how we plan and execute The Festival from the very beginning of the process, and you will have an opportunity to take a leadership role in 2027 as part of the vendor team.

The MVMF committee is looking for a passionate member in the Markham community to join its team to help organize and run the on-the-ground surveys for this year’s Markham VIllage Music Festival.
Availability
You will be asked to join our month coordination meeting to help coordinate the survey push.
During the festival weekend, you will be actively “on the ground” at The Festival - organizing and motivating volunteers as we engage festival-goers to take part in our yearly survey.
The survey is one of the few direct ways we can get feedback from our festival-goers - and is incredibly critical in our quest to make our event bigger and better every year.
You should be comfortable with computers (spreadsheets, Word Processing) and are willing to learn our online payment and form platforms. Social media skills would also come in handy!

The sponsorship team is looking for a passionate member in the Markham community to join its team to help engage business in Markham and York Region to solicit sponsorship. We organize York Region’s largest outdoor music festival, with free attendance for all. The festival is made possible only through the generosity of corporate partners in our community.
Availability
You will be asked to contribute 1-3 hours a week to help coordinate and make calls, answer emails, and make connections with business leaders in Markham and York Region.
During the festival weekend, you will be actively “on the ground” at The Festival - helping the committee with organization and execution of the festival, as well as liaising with businesses in Markham.

Do you love organized fun? The Kid Zone Assistant helps bring the festival’s family-friendly area to life — coordinating activities, supporting vendors and activators, and ensuring young festival-goers (and their grown-ups) have a safe and engaging experience.
This is a hands-on leadership-track volunteer role ideal for someone interested in event coordination, family programming, community partnerships, or experiential marketing.
Role Overview
The Kid Zone Assistant supports the planning and on-site execution of the festival’s dedicated children’s programming area. You will help coordinate activity partners (“activators”), manage logistics, and serve as the day-of point person for the Kid Zone footprint.
If you can juggle clipboards and bubbles at the same time, you’ll thrive here.
Time Commitment
Pre-Festival (Approx. 2-3 hours per week)
Flexible; includes coordination and planning meetings.
Festival Weekend:
Saturday: Set Up 9am, full-day oversight (core programming hours 11am to 5pm), take down 5-6pm
Assist with load-in and load-out of Kid Zone participants
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Festival Planning
Assist in recruiting and coordinating Kid Zone activity partners
Communicate event logistics, requirements, and expectations to participants
Support development of the Kid Zone layout and site plan
Confirm space needs (tents, tables, power, access routes, safety spacing)
Coordinate with Logistics and Volunteer Committees to ensure smooth operations
Help ensure activities align with festival values and safety standards
Festival Weekend Execution
Serve as primary on-site contact for all Kid Zone stakeholders
Greet vendors and activators upon arrival and direct them to assigned locations
Oversee proper booth setup and spacing
Troubleshoot issues calmly and efficiently
Monitor flow, safety, and overall guest experience within the zone
Coordinate volunteer support as needed
Assist with end-of-day takedown and site reset
Safety & Experience Oversight
Ensure clear pathways and child-safe environment standards
Act quickly and professionally if concerns arise
Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere
Skills & Qualifications
Strong organizational and coordination skills
Comfortable communicating with families, vendors, and volunteers
Calm under pressure and solution-oriented
Detail-focused with an understanding of event logistics
Experience in events, childcare programming, recreation, or community initiatives is an asset
Friendly, approachable, and community-minded
